FARMINGDALE – Catherine C. Chapman, 89, of 200 Park St., Farmingdale, died on Nov. 28, at the MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Center – Gray Birch.

She was born in Rumford, on Jan. 7, 1916, the daughter of George H. and Isabella (Dickson) Clunie. Catherine was a graduate of Stephens High School, Rumford, and attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.

She was a vocalist in the Methodist Church and Rumford Community Orchestra, and a member of several Rumford/Mexico community clubs including the Mexico Mother’s Club.

Survivors include three children, Craig T. Chapman and his wife, MaryJane, of Godfry, Ill., Jeffrey C. Chapman and his wife, Barbara, of Famingdale, and Karen I. Gurschick of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada; six grandchildren, Katherine (Kay-Jo) Gurschick, Kelley Peake and her husband, Gordon, Kristen Ouellet of Saint John, N.B., Allison DeSalvo and her husband, Steve, Scott Chapman of Charlotte, N.C., and Kimberly Chapman of Denver; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexander Peake and Taylor Ouellet.

She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd “Chippie” Chapman, in 1979; and a brother, Dr. Robert L. Clunie of Rumford, in 1970.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gray Birch for the kindness and wonderful care they gave to Catherine, helping to make her days pleasant and comfortable.
