What we need in northern New England are more tacky mansions. This would stimulate the building trades more than snug, energy-efficient Cape-style homes.
Do we really need all those dairy farms in Vermont? This land would be more wisely used as house lots for stressed-out New Yorkers in need of vacation homes.
I don’t see why people complain about the lack of job opportunities. The chain restaurants always need help, as do the big stores selling Chinese goods, and they pay a more-than-adequate minimum wage.
The tourism industry also needs work. Let’s cut down the few remaining apple orchards and build casinos. That way, we’ll attract the intelligent visitors that we want.
The crime rate in this area is quite low. We have some catching up to do in this regard. Our crime statistics are very unambitious and uninspiring.
Why don’t we build more skyscrapers? They are more modern looking than the spires of our traditional houses of worship.
Let’s get our laptops humming and use technology to come up with some human solutions to our problems.
