MONMOUTH – The Monmouth Community Players will hold auditions for their spring show “Into the Woods” Dec. 8 and 10.
The musical is an amalgam of several fairy tales, including “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “Little Red Ridinghood” and “Cinderella.”
James Lapine’s script and Stephen Sondheim’s music examines the relationship between the characters and explores what happens after the “happily ever after.”
Roles are available for seven men and 10 women.
Auditioners are asked to come prepared to sing one verse and chorus of a song preferably from the show. Other songs are acceptable, but they must be in the style of the show. Auditioners should also be prepared to read selected scenes.
Auditions will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Monmouth Middle School and at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Monmouth Accademy cafeteria.
Show dates are March 17-19 and 24-26. “Into the Woods” will be directed by Michael T. French, assisted by David Handley and produced by Tori Lee Jackson.
