Candle lighting

FARMINGTON – A Candle for Peace will be lit during worship Sunday, Dec. 4, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church. The public is welcome to join the congregation at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday school for all ages will begin at 9 a.m. at the church, located on the corner of Academy and Main streets.

Temple Shalom

WILTON – Temple Shalom Tsafon, TST, Sunday will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the First Congregational Church, Main Street. The vestry, where the meeting is usually held, will be unavailable so it will be held in the basement of the church.

The program will be “If It Weren’t for Chanukah, There Would be No Christmas.” Those attending are asked to bring a vegetarian dish for the potluck dinner.

Games and Hebrew learning programs will be set up on a computer for children. Those attending should RSVP by calling 786-4201.

Monday music

FARMINGTON – The Monday Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at the Pierce House, Main Street. The group will celebrate Christmas with the music of the Mt. Blue Syncopations an all-girl vocal group under the direction of Carol Shumway. Refreshments will be served by Nikki Adams and her committee.

Noon concert

FARMINGTON – The Mt. Blue High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Karen Beacham, will perform at the Wednesday Noontime Concert from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in Nordica Auditorium, University of Maine at Farmington. Donations are accepted at the door. For more information, call 645-2157.

Pastoral service

FARMINGTON – Western Maine Pastoral Care Services will hold the annual holiday service for those who grieve in this season of celebration and joy at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Fairbanks Union Church, Farmington Road, Fairbanks.

The Mt. Blue High School girls’ choral group, Syncopations, will provide musical offerings. Readings, prayers, lighting of candles and placing of ornaments on a Christmas tree will allow those attending to celebrate loved ones who have died. All are welcome and a social will follow the service.
