LEWISTON – The Jesus Party, urban children’s ministry, is announcing its holiday schedule. The festivities will begin with the lighting of the Candy Cane Tree at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, along with contemporary Christmas music favorites, cookies, hot cocoa and a video on where the candy cane originated.

Children will see the ninth annual Living Nativity at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 16 and 17, at the Vineyard Christian Church. They will hear the Dickinson Carolers, have holiday desserts and go for an old-fashioned hayride.

The 10th annual Jesus Party Christmas will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at the ministry’s headquarters, 291 Bates St. The Christmas story, the Birth of Jesus Christ, will be re-enacted by staff and will be the focus point of the evening. Traditional Christmas hymns will be sung.

The Jesus Party will hold its second annual New Year’s Party for kids only on Saturday, Dec. 31. Between 6 and 9 p.m. children will have an evening of reflection and goal setting for the new year. All attending will receive New Year’s hats, leis, noise-makers and foods and Shirley Temple drinks.
