A few, select Auburn citizens have danced to the piper (think Lee Young, Normand Guay, M. Kelly Matzen and Bethel Shields). Now, the rest of us must pay.
Our lame duck mayor must have his sights set on his future Florida home – something is distracting him. His uncaring attitude toward Auburn citizens is a disgrace.
Sidewalks on Western Avenue, Union Street bypass and Turner Street remained unplowed after our early snow. A sure-footed pedestrian could navigate a snowy sidewalk or risk life and limb by walking on the side of the road on the pavement.
Wouldn’t our exorbitant taxes be better spent on clearing sidewalks? Must we have a $5 million parking garage instead?
I join the three common-sense councilors, as well as thousands of citizens, in their outcry. Keep our citizens safe and forget the big-ticket, ego-trip frills.
When Mayor Guay does move to Florida, he can forget the snowy city of Auburn.
Perhaps he should resign if his heart is not in his job.
Anne Ceplikas, Auburn
