MANCHESTER – Sister Jeanne-Pauline, 84, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, St. Joseph Residence in Manchester, died Dec. 1, at her residence.

Born in Lewiston on Dec. 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late August and Rose-Anna (Tardif) Lagace, and named Alberta Lagace. See received her bachelor’s degree in education from Rivier College in Nashua, N.H.

She entered the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Hudson, N.H., on Jan. 21, 1941, made her first profession in 1943, and final profession in 1948. Sister Jeanne-Pauline was an outstanding elementary school teacher, who taught at St. Benedict in Cascade, St. Marie Elementary in Manchester, and Our Lady of the Mountains Academy in Gorham, and spent her last 24 years of teaching at the Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, N.H. In 1988, she retired at the Presentation of Mary Community in Hudson and remained active in community services.

Sister Jeanne-Pauline will be remembered as a totally dedicated teacher and an expert seamstress and master craftswoman.

Members of her family include five sisters, Therese Ouellette of Lewiston, Cecile Mailhot of Lewiston, Lucille Martin of Parkman, Gloria Vallee of Lisbon, and Jeanne Sanchez of New Britain, Conn.; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
