MONMOUTH – Thomas and Dorothy (Hoffmann) Hunter of Monmouth, formerly of Auburn, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary recently.

The couple’s children, Constance Ayotte of Auburn, Thomas Hunter Jr. of Vassalboro and William Hunter of Turner, hosted a family gathering at Rolandeau’s Restaurant in Auburn on Oct. 15. The couple was presented with a bouquet of flowers, a gift basket, many cards and good wishes.

Mr. and Mrs. Hunter were married on Oct. 14, 1945, at the Federated Church in Lewiston. Mr. Hunter worked for many years as assistant director of maintenance at Bates College and previously at the Continental Mill.

Mrs. Hunter was employed by the City of Auburn as a third grade teacher at the East Auburn School. Upon retirement, they moved permanently to their summer retreat on Beach Road at Cochnewagen Lake in Monmouth.

Attending were Constance and Frank Ayotte, Thomas Hunter Jr. and Glenys Michaud, William and Carmen Hunter, and grandchildren, Thomas III and wife, Erica Hunter, and Kevin Hunter and fiancee, Alicia Boudreau. Other grandchildren who were unable to attend Christopher Ayotte, Jennifer Hunter, Audrey Hunter and Jessica House and her husband, Jay. Great-grandchildren are Anna Hagan, Peter Ayotte and Emily House.
