FARMINGTON – Paul Evans Karkos, 48, of Farmington Falls, peacefully went to be with his savior while surrounded by his immediate family, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday afternoon, Dec. 2, at his home.

He was born Feb. 16, 1957, in Farmington, a son of Lyle E. and Gail E. (Adams) Karkos. He was educated in the schools of Farmington and graduated from Mt. Blue High School Class of 1975. He was a proud member of the 1974 Mt. Blue Class B state champion football team.

Paul married Joanne Sawyer on Nov. 27, 1976, in Farmington.

He worked at an Irving gas station through high school until 1988, then went to work for Central Maine Power Co. as a journeyman I.

Paul was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Farmington Falls, Maine Masonic Lodge 20, AM & FM Farmington and also a former member and treasurer of the Farmington Falls Fire Co.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and gatherings with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Joanne, of 29 years, Paul is survived by his parents, Lyle E. and Gail E. Karkos of Temple; daughters, Erika Flemming Coull and her husband, Bradley, of Cumberland Center, Ingrid Flemming of Santa Fe, N.M., Sandra Karkos-Powers and her husband, Ronald, of New Vineyard, and Kimberly Karkos Judkins and her husband, Garrett, of Chesterville; grandchildren, Logan Evans Karkos-Powers and Ella Judith Coull; step-grandson, Levi Powers; grandfather, Merton Karkos of Temple, brothers, Richard M. and his wife, Donna Karkos, of Topsham, Bruce E. and his wife, Sherie Karkos, of Fairbanks, Jon A. and his wife, Teresa Karkos, of Temple; aunts; uncles; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by grandparents, Bertha Farrington Karkos, Jeannette Watson Adams and Harland E. Adams.
