HAMPDEN, Mass. (AP) – A 10-year-old Ware boy has died in what police said appears to be a hunting accident.
The boy, Raymond Libby III, was shot Saturday morning during a father-and-son hunting outing in the town of Hampden, south of Springfield at the Connecticut border.
Raymond Libby, Jr., carried his son out of the woods, where he met police and paramedics who tried to revive him. The boy was pronounced dead at Baystate Medical Center. Police received a 911 call at 9:30 a.m.
Police are still investigating but said it appears the shooting was an accident. Police refused to comment on who shot the boy.
