AVON – The board of trustees of the Sugarloaf Region Charitable Trust recently voted to grant $3,000 to help fund programs of the Opportunity Center of North Franklin County Inc.

The employees of Sugarloaf/USA donated $10,000 in grants this last session to four area organizations, including the Opportunity Center, the United Way of the Tri-Valley Area, Girls Talk/Teen Voices at Strong Elementary School and the Carrabassett Valley Public Library.

The trust is a private, nonprofit agency dedicated to improving the quality of life for the communities that make up the Sugarloaf area. The trust provides financial assistance to organizations with nonprofit, tax-exempt status.

The goal of the assistance is to encourage the growth in existing human service and cultural organizations and to develop new organizations that will involve and improve the Sugarloaf area.
