LEWISTON – Students in a Bates College environmental studies seminar will present findings from research conducted at three Maine farms at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, in Skelton Lounge, Chase Hall, 56 Campus Ave. The event is open to the public.

Students pursued a variety of inquiries at the Gillespie Farm in New Gloucester; Sunrise Acres Farm in Cumberland Center and The Turkey Farm in New Sharon. Representatives of the farms will attend the presentation.

The seminar, held every other year, introduces students to the history of agriculture, modern farm practices around the globe and issues in the relationship between agriculture and the broader world. The course emphasizes the continuing importance of agriculture and the industry’s multidimensional nature, with its cultural, political, economic and environmental aspects.
