This year at St. Peter and Sacred Heart School we have a new after school program called Intramurals. In Intramurals the kids from third to fifth grade play all sorts of games. This program was meant to get kids more active; instead of watching television at home. The number of students participating this year in this program is 20 kids. Originally there were less than 20 kids, but after the program got started other kids saw how fun it was and they wanted to join. There are also 6 adult volunteers who help run the program. The games they have played this year so far are soccer, basketball, snatch the flag, and kickball. The days that the kids play these games is Mon. & Wed. from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
The program was started up over the summer by our principal Mrs. Donna Sawyer, and the eighth grade teacher Mrs. Lori Rioux. This is what the kids participating in the program think about it: “It is Awesome” said Coreen and Taylor both from the fourth grade. They both also agreed that kickball was the best game they have played this year so far. “It’s great” said both Brian and Kaitlyn of the third grade. They both agreed that soccer was the best game they have played this year so far. Mrs. Sawyer said that “When the kids come back inside from playing these games they are exhausted from all the fun they were having.”
We all hope that the kids continue to have fun in this program, and that the program will last for many more years to come.
