AUBURN – The YWCA of Central Maine has been presented the Outstanding Campaign Award in appreciation of a successful employee campaign and in recognition of the YWCA’s support of the community.

The award was presented at the United Way of Androscoggin County Campaign Celebration held Nov. 16 at Martindale Country Club. The celebration was an evening of thanks for the community’s support during the 2005 campaign.

Each year, hundreds of individuals, local businesses, organizations and their employees give to United Way of Androscoggin County through workplace campaigns and individual giving.

The goal of the annual campaign is to raise a significant amount of money to benefit those in need in the local community. For those interested in running a United Way campaign at a workplace, the United Way can provide brochures, pledge cards and other United Way campaign materials, assist with campaign planning and provide community speakers for campaign events. For information, contact United Way at 795-4000 or unitedway@unitedwayandro.org.

“This award is a great surprise to us here at the YWCA,” said Anne Craigs, executive director. “I want to thank all employees who were involved in making the campaign a success, and for their continuing support of the members and the community.”

The YWCA is a United Way agency and receives funding for child care, intervention services and therapeutic swim programs. For more information on the YWCA programs, call 795-4050 or visit www.ywcamaine.org.
