Club to meet

ROXBURY – The Slippery Sliders Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the Roxbury Fire Station.

Quilters session

RUMFORD – Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street. Those who wish may bring quilted Christmas items, old or new, for a holiday display for show and tell. A reminder that if school has been canceled in the Rumford area, the meeting will also be canceled.

Class lunch

MEXICO – Stephens High School class of 1956 will meet for a luncheon at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Far East Restaurant. Anyone with questions should call Muriel Shurtleff at 562-7550.

Holiday dinner

RUMFORD – SeniorsPlus Dining Center will hold a Christmas dinner Friday, Dec. 16, at the Rumford Senior Center, Congress Street. There will be entertainment at 11 a.m. and dinner will be held at 11:30 a.m. The menu will include roast pork, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, squash, peas, cranberry sauce, dinner roll, Christmas cake and coffee, tea or milk.

Cost is $3.50 donation for those 60 and over, their spouses, people with disabilities and volunteers; $5 for those under 60. For reservations or more information, call Kim at 364-3572.

On Dec. 10, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Junior Chisholm Ski Team will hold a tag day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, in Rumford and Mexico.

Driving course

MEXICO – A Maine Driving Dynamics course is scheduled for Region 9 School of Applied Technology from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Dec. 13 and 15.

Instructor Eddy Naples said those completing the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record; insurance discounts are also possible.

The Maine Driving Dynamics course offers crash-avoidance techniques and space cushion driving techniques that are essential for everyday driving situations with films, classroom discussion, workbooks and lectures.

Region 9 School of Applied Technology and the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety sponsor the course, which is open to the public.

D of I party

RUMFORD – Daughters of Isabella will have a Christmas party and regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the parish center downstairs. Social hour will be 4:30 to 5 p.m. followed by a potluck dinner. The committee will furnish the desserts.

In place of Christmas gifts, a donation will be given where needed. Committee will be Angie Arsenault, Marcelle Miller, Jennie Curato, Marie Boudreau, Janet Beaudet, Adeline Richard, Mary Buccina, Marjorie Brown, Debbie Laurinitis and Priscilla Marquis.
