Gospel concert

AUBURN – A gospel and soul concert, sponsored by Truelife Productions in association with the Christ Temple Church of God in Christ, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the church (log church), Route 4. The public is invited. Refreshments will be served, and free will offerings will be taken.

The second annual Operation Salvation concert will be hosted by Pastor Elder Albert R. Jackson Sr. and will feature “Messenger.” Also appearing will be Third Feast, BEST, Church of God in Christ Praise Team, John Isaac and Tiffany Warren and Isaac and Anne Marie Goulet.

OES dinner

WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, OES, will begin celebrating Christmas with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Wales Grange/Masonic Hall on Centre Road. The meeting will feature the Landmarks and Obligation of the order. All members are welcome.

This will be the last meeting until March 14. Officers are reminded street dress is to be worn. Members will bring donations of toiletries or money to buy toiletries for the veterans in Togus for Christmas.

Young at Heart

AUBURN – The Young at Heart Fellowship will meet at noon Tuesday, Dec. 13 (a week earlier than usual because of Christmas), at the Court Street Baptist Church to attend the Advent service.

A luncheon will follow in the vestry. President Winston Yeaton will conduct a business meeting after the luncheon. The program will be given by Charles Marshall, Auburn musician, who will entertain on the piano, including songs of the season.

Members should bring a gift to exchange, with a cost of not more than $3. There will be no door prize this month because of the gift exchange. All senior citizens are welcome.

Christmas event

LISBON FALLS – St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Route 196, will hold a Christmas celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. Refreshments will be served and children are welcome. Donations will be accepted.

MS party meeting

LEWISTON – The MS Support Group and Caregivers will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave. It will be a Christmas party with a potluck supper and Chinese auction (gift of $5 to $10).

Living nativity

LEWISTON – The Vineyard Church will present the ninth annual Living Nativity at 7 and 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15; 7, 8 and 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16; and 6, 7 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17.

The free event is open to the public. The presentation of the birth of Christ will be held indoors and include live animals and actors performing drama and dance, followed by a tour of the hall of trees. There will be Dickens carolers, Christmas cookies and hot cider. A horse-drawn wagon ride will be offered for those who don’t mind the cold night air.

Distribution day

AUBURN – Auburn AC Serve (SHARE), part of Serve New England’s food and volunteer program, will have Distribution Day from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, Whitney Street entrance.

Employees to meet

LEWISTON – The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Ramada Inn.

The holiday party will feature Henri Grenier as guest entertainment.

He will provide music of the holiday season during lunch and after. He has provided music for area restaurants, nursing homes, organizations and cruise ships.

Among the festivities will be raffles of gifts, a free lunch and 50-50 raffle.

Members are invited to bring friends, spouses and/or active-retired federal employees.

Gift of Giving’

LEWISTON – The Vineyard Church will present “The Gift of Giving” at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave.

The evening will include Dickens Carolers and Children’s Choir, video clips from “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” a narration of the “Reason for the Season” and a message on “The Gift of Giving.”

There will be live music and dance, gifts of the kids and hot cider and cookies. It is a free Christmas celebration for the whole family.

Holiday dinner

LEWISTON – Hope Haven Gospel Mission will provide a free Christmas dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Christmas Day, Sunday, Dec. 25, at 209 Lincoln St. All in need are welcome. Meals will be delivered to shut-ins. Call 783-6086 for delivery.
