It’s about time someone stood against the disgusting use of our fallen soldiers’ resting places for protesting the war in Iraq. The white flags representing our fallen soldiers in Iraq were meant to be a war protest. Period.

Had I been killed in action, I would hope my family would not allow anyone to represent me with a white flag, not to mention desecrating my resting place.

It is so unfortunate that patriotism is slowly giving way to safety, rather than duty, in our country. Sixty percent of our citizens are obese. Our children are out of control, and, to top it off, the news media are on a relentless crusade to bring down our government and the American people, just for their own financial and political gain.

On Veterans Day, Sun Journal editorial writer David Farmer devoted 111 words in recognition of the great sacrifices our military people made for their country. I can forgive him for that because he is just too young to really understand, just as others his age.

However, every American citizen owes our country a debt.

We need to re-establish the draft to give our children some direction, discipline and the opportunity to see the world as it is, the world we must protect, or lose our freedom.
