AUBURN – “And a grande time was had by all …” The phrase describes the feeling as guests left L/A Arts’ Victorian Christmas benefit fundraiser on Dec. 4 at the Munroe Inn.

The evening began with mulled wine followed by an auction where four donated items raised additional funds for the local arts agency.

Guests were then led into the dining room or a five-course meal. Attendees were treated, between courses, to several readings from Dickens, a Victorian game of chance and edification on each course’s wine. The evening ended in song as guests were introduced to a traditional Christmas round and staff and guests finished with a rendition of “Jingle Bells.”

L/A Arts is planning a similar evening of Victorian sensibilities, focused on the leaning of the heart, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Munroe Inn.
