This letter is a response to letters from the Rev. Doug Taylor.
As a Christian and the leader of the Jesus Party, shouldn’t Taylor try to be more like Jesus? All I read from him recently is how the Harry Potter books are evil (Taylor’s letter, Nov. 24) and that anyone who reads one is a sinner. Taylor has even burned books. I really don’t think Jesus would have done that. Wouldn’t Jesus have forgiven and tried to help those “sinners” become better people and put them back on the path to God?
Who knows, maybe the Bible is just another book, just like the Harry Potter ones.
Instead of preaching to others about how they are sinners and won’t go to heaven, Taylor should tone it down, stop being so angry and try being peaceful. There are enough wars going on in the world. We don’t need fighting going on in our neighborhoods.
I’m sure Jesus was more calm and civil in his preaching. That’s how he acquired so many followers. He was so loving. He didn’t destroy things just because he didn’t like them. Instead, he talked of God’s love and let others decide what to believe in and how to live their lives. Jesus loved them, no matter what.
Maybe Taylor should get off his high horse or just stop bothering us.
