MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – Folks all over the state were digging out on Saturday following a powerful snow storm. Many areas got a foot or more of snow.
Some flights at Manchester’s airport were delayed or canceled Saturday morning and travelers were being asked to contact their airlines before heading out.
Planes were back in the air at Boston’s Logan Airport. The airport had been completely shut down during part of the storm Friday.
One plane coming in for a landing early Friday was hit by lightning. The 35 passengers and three crew members were not injured though the plane suffered some damage.
Manchester Fire Victim
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – A 50-year-old woman was in critical condition at Massachusetts General on Saturday, a day after firefighters pulled her from her burning home.
Elizabeth Niemi was unconscious and not breathing when she was found on the floor. Firefighters were able to revive her.
District Fire Chief Vinny Toland Jr. said the fire appeared to have started on the stove in the kitchen and spread into the rafters of the three-story home.
Neighbors reported seeing smoke around 2 p.m. and alerted firefighters.

Merrimack Robber
MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) – A Brookline man has been charged after a failed robbery attempt at a convenience store.
Police say Marc Dixon, 24, tried to rob Ladd’s Convenience Store on Monday. They say the store clerk picked up the gun Dixon had laid down on the counter and hit him in the face with it.
The store clerk, Dianne Duval, said she reacted without thinking. Police say Dixon dropped the cash register and fled in a silver Oldsmobile. Milford police spotted the vehicle on Thursday and made the arrest.
Dixon was ordered held on $50,000 cash bail. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 20.

Stabbing Arrest
LACONIA, N.H. (AP) – A Laconia (New Hampshire) man is in jail today after police say he slashed a woman in the neck.
Police say they responded to a call at a Main Street apartment yesterday and found the 21-year-old victim with an eight-inch knife wound in the back of her neck. She was taken to the Lakes Region General Hospital where she was treated and released.
The suspect in the stabbing, Tyler Twombly has been charged with second-degree assault. Police say Twombly also was found with cocaine and methadone when he was arrested. He was being held at the Belknap county jail and is due to appear in court on Monday.
