Veterans party

LEWISTON – The Franco American War Veterans and Auxiliary Post 31 will hold a meeting and Christmas party at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street. All members and those interested in joining are welcome to the last meeting of the year.

Commander Willie Danforth and President Fern Ronan will greet those attending. Anyone interested in exchanging gifts should call Ronan at 786-2170. The post won the Past Commanders Award for membership and participation in activities.

Advent service

AUBURN – Court Street Baptist Church will hold the third Tuesday noon Advent service on Dec. 13. The service will feature scripture, special music and a sermonette. The pastor, the Rev. Dr. Foster Williams, will bring the message. Charles Marshall is organist and Dr. Edward Dwyer is the service leader.

A home-style meal will be served in the vestry following the service. A small donation is asked to cover the food cost. For more information, call 784-6661.

Seniors meet

AUBURN – The New Auburn Senior Citizens held the annual Christmas party on Dec. 4 at the Martindale Country Club. Dinner, entertainment and drawings were held.

The group met Dec. 7 with President Virginia Levasseur presiding. December birthdays were noted, small gifts given and the “Happy Birthday Song” sung. Plans are being made to go to the Bangor Racino if there is enough interest. More details will be available at the January meeting.

New members welcomed were Donald Ouellette, Jackie Ouellette, Betty Ames, Shirley Labonte, Marie L’Italian and Tom Hart. Pot of gold winners were Jeanette Lafrance Theresa Auger, Ginette Beauchesne and Simone Reynolds.

Officers elected were Levasseur, president; Fern Bussiere, vice president; Irene Delorme, secretary; Delice Blais, treasurer; and Joyce Bickford, correspondence secretary and publicity. Installation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 4.

The meeting adjourned and a light lunch was served followed by bingo. There will be open bingo on Wednesday, Dec. 14, for seniors 60 and over. After the Dec. 14 meeting, the group will break until Jan. 4.

Postponed

BOWDOIN – The talent show and auction that was to have been held at the Bowdoin Central School on Friday, Dec. 9, has been postponed to Friday, Dec. 16. For more information, call 666-5779.

Singing Santas

BRUNSWICK – The Nor’easters Barbershop Chorus’ Singing Santas are visiting nursing homes in the mid-coast area Tuesday evenings during December. The chorus members have formed two ensembles and bring their Christmas cheer to several places each evening.

On Dec. 6, they sang at Wiscasset Green; Lincoln Home and Hodgdon Green, Damariscotta; Amenity Manor, Topsham; and for the Brunswick Area Modelers Flying Club at Pejepscot Terrace in Brunswick.

On Dec. 13, they will be at Coves Edge, Chase Point and Schooner Cove, Damariscotta; Plant Home, Winship Green and the Moorings, Bath. The visits will conclude on Dec. 20 at Skofield House, Thornton Oaks and Dionne Commons, Brunswick; and St. Andrews Village, Boothbay Harbor.

Seniors’ dinner

AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Martindale Country Club for the annual Christmas dinner. The Silvertones will furnish the program.

Seventy-eight members attended a Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 4 at the Auburn United Methodist Church. Entertainment was provided by Ron Niggle of Just One, combining accordion and organ music on his keyboard.

Pot of gold winners were Alwin Strout, Caroline Chapman, Fay Deroszy, Kay DeBurra, Edward Laine, Elsie Whitney, Burleigh Edwards, Gerald Timberlake, Viola Gervais and Anne Demers.
