Church concert

NEW VINEYARD – The Open Bible Baptist Church will present in concert, “The King,” at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, and Sunday, Dec. 18, at the church, 268 Barker Road. The concert will be performed by the Kingdom Life Singers with choir director Kimberly Schanz.

Opening the evening’s program, the Open Bible Christian School Choir, directed by Marlene Hutchins, will sing. Solo performances will be given by John and Amy Bell, Jill Bates, Steve Hutchins, Elise Bell and Marlene Hutchins. Also performing will be Three for Thee, a trio of singers, Kimberly Schanz, Gina DiDonna and Elise Bell. Gina DiDonna will play a Christmas piano medley.

Open house

FARMINGTON – The annual holiday open house at the Pierce House will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at the house on Main Street. A basket to collect toys for needy children will be available. The public is welcome to join the residents for a time of fellowship and light refreshments.

Holiday lunch

FARMINGTON – A Christmas community luncheon will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, Academy Street. The menu includes baked ham, potatoes, squash, string beans and dessert. All are welcome to the community meal offered free. Candlelight

MADRID – Reeds Mill Church will hold a candlelight Christmas service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, weather permitting.

For the second year, worshipers may gather in this historic church to celebrate the Christmas season. Warmed by the woodstove, they can expect to sing favorite carols under the glow of the lit gas lamps with candles in every window.

This will be the last service at the church for 2005. Once the shutters are closed, the “church in the wildwood” will open again next summer when Sunday services will be held weekly at 2 p.m. For directions or more information, call Ginni at 639-2713.

Christmas event

FARMINGTON – Pilgrim Commandery 19 will hold its annual Christmas observance at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Masonic Lodge, Main Street. All sir knights and master masons are invited to attend the special Christmas service.

Festival of music

FARMINGTON – The annual Festival of Holiday Music at Franklin Memorial Hospital will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in the Bass Room at the hospital.

Featuring two groups from Mt. Blue High School, the festival will open with the Franklin County Fiddlers, a 20-member group that will perform jazz and traditional classics. A storybook reading and slide show of “The Night Before Christmas” will follow. At 7:45 p.m., the Syncopations, a 15-member, all-girls choral group, will perform holiday music.
