FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce has invited the community to share the warmth of giving this holiday season by contributing nonperishable food and monetary donations to the Christmas basket project.

This is the third Christmas that the chamber has collected food for the Christmas baskets, which are delivered to families in need

in Franklin County. The local need is greater this year because so many charitable donations that might have been made locally have been diverted to the Gulf states to help the hurricane victims.

“Last year, the chamber doubled the number of baskets it was able to prepare from its first year. We hope to double it again this year,” said Past President Tom Sawyer.

Two local grocers will donate turkeys. In order to prepare the baskets, donations are needed by Friday, Dec. 16, and should be delivered to the chamber office at 407 Wilton Road, Suite 1. For more information, contact the chamber office at 778-4215.
