SOUTH PORTLAND – Two area Girl Scouts participated in the Girl Scouts of Kennebec Council’s ninth annual Women of Distinction Dinner honoring Meg Baxter, president of the United Way of Greater Portland, on Nov. 30 at the Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks.

Stephanie Fisher of Brunswick, who has been a Girl Scout for nine years, and Marissa Iadevaia-Jalbert of Lewiston, who has been a Girl Scout for 13 years, spoke about the important role Girl Scouting has played in each of their lives.

The dinner recognizes local women who serve as exemplary role models for today’s girls and young women and acknowledges the achievements of women in all fields.

The dinner raised approximately $70,000, which will allow the Girl Scouts of the Kennebec Council to continue to offer programs to more than 10,000 girls ages 5 to 17 in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Oxford, Sagadahoc, Somerset and York counties.
