WEST PARIS – In preparing for budget negotiations, selectmen have finalized Budget Committee appointments through 2007 and reminded people of budget request deadlines for this year.
Budget Committee appointments, involving all veteran committee members, are: for terms running through 2007, Dennis Handerson, Diane Rainey and Lisa Henderson; for 2006, Betty Jones and Phelps Poland; and for this year, Sylvia McCan and Martha Roberts.
The board also is reminding department heads and social service organizations that Thursday is the last day budget requests will be accepted. The Dec. 15 deadline was voted by town residents four years ago to avoid last-minute requests that can complicate the budget process. Any requests submitted after that date will not be honored.
Town Manager Donald Woodbury said the deadline for citizen-initiated warrant articles for the March town meeting must be submitted by Jan. 12 to be included when the town warrant goes to print in early February.
The 2006 town meeting will convene at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4.
