CHESTERVILLE – Nomination papers are available at the Chesterville Town Office for the March town meeting. One selectman’s position is open. A total of 25 signatures is required for the nomination. The nomination papers are due Jan. 23 at the town office.

Holiday concert

LIVERMORE FALLS – The Campbells will present a holiday music concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at the First Baptist Church, 25 Church St. Refreshments will be served after the concert. A love offering will be accepted. For more information, contact Doug at 897-4925.

Special meeting

JAY – A special town meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, in the Jay Middle School cafeteria. Copies of the warrant are available at the Jay Town Office or on the Web at www.jay-maine.org.

Santa to visit

FARMINGTON – Santa Claus will make his annual visit to downtown Farmington Saturday, Dec. 17, to meet with area boys and girls at the Homestead Bakery on Broadway.

Santa plans to arrive by sleigh at 10 a.m. and will be at the Homestead from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Photos of the kids with Santa will be available for a small fee, and WKTJ radio will be on hand broadcasting the event live. Free sleigh rides through downtown will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Christmas events

JAY – Bean’s Corner Baptist Church will celebrate the Christmas season with special events on Sunday, Dec. 18, and on Christmas weekend.

The church choir will present the Christmas musical “A Carol to the King” by Mosie Lister during the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday, Dec. 18. Directed by Don Waterhouse and accompanied by Verna Pike, the performance presents the story of Christ’s birth in song and narration.

The musical will also be presented that evening at 6 p.m. at the Rangeley Free Baptist Church.

A Christmas Eve service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24. It will feature a play and pageant, “Christmas is a Miracle,” as well as carol singing. A family Sunday school hour will be held at 9:15 a.m. and a special Christmas service at 10:30 a.m. is scheduled for Christmas day.

All the services are open to the public. The church is located at the intersection of Routes 156 and 133.

Holiday musical

FARMINGTON – Trinity United Methodist Church will offer a Christmas musical at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at the church on the Farmington Falls Road.

Sunday sermon

FARMINGTON – Pastor Susan Crane’s sermon Sunday, Dec. 18, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church will celebrate the love of God. The worship service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Praise songs will be led by the Sunday School Singers. All are welcome. For more information, call the church at 778-2163.

Choirs to sing

WILTON – The combined choirs of three Wilton churches will perform, the Christmas program “Carols and Lessons of Christmas,” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, High Street.

Richard Joseph will conduct the program, which will feature singers from First Congregational Church of Wilton, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and Wilton United Methodist Church of Wilton. The program will include familiar Christmas carols and historic carols not often sung in recent years and the Christmas story told through readings from Holy Scripture. The public is invited and admission is free. For more information, call 645-2639.

Holiday services

PHILLIPS – The Phillips Shared Ministry will celebrate Christmas Eve with a service of carols and reading of the Christmas story from Scripture at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, at the Community House, Main Street.

The service will conclude with the traditional singing of “Silent Night” by candlelight, as the light is passed from one to another. After the service, there will be a fellowship time with light refreshments. A donation offering will be taken for the food pantry, or those wishing may bring nonperishable foods.

On Sunday, Christmas Day, a service will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Community House, a half hour earlier than usual. The service will also include carols, a Christmas message and the lighting of the Christ candle. An offering for the church will be received. Also at the Community House on Christmas Day from noon to 3 p.m., a home-cooked meal will be served. Transportation will be provided for those who need it. Meals will be delivered to those unable to travel to the Community House.
