AUBURN – Music Together of Lewiston/Auburn, a parent/child music and movement program, has announced its winter schedule. Classes will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the Turner Village Church, at 9 and 10:15 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays at the Auburn United Methodist Church and at 10 and 11:15 a.m. Saturdays at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

The goal of Music Together is to develop every child’s opportunity for basic music competence by encouraging music experience rather than learning information about music.

Families are encouraged to attend class together, so younger and older children in the same family can learn music and movement activities to enjoy at home.

Classes are geared toward children ranging in age from birth to 4.

In a class, 12 children and their parents or caregivers meet for 45 minutes each week for 10 weeks to experience new songs, chants, movement activities and instrumental jam sessions.

Each semester is based on a collection of 30 songs through which the elements of music are explored. Each family receives the collection of songs on two recordings and in an illustrated songbook as part of the registration fee. They sit in a circle and participate, led by a teacher with early childhood and music skills.

Music Together will begin the winter semester the week of Jan. 5. For more information or to register, contact director/teacher Cherie Szustak at 777-5548.
