LEWISTON – A man and woman were seriously hurt Wednesday morning when the sport utility vehicle they were riding in collided with a pulp truck on Lisbon Street.
The 11 a.m. crash sent Tammy Morris and Jason Jean to the hospital after the pair was pulled from the vehicle. Wednesday night, each was listed in stable condition at Central Maine Medical Center, said a nursing supervisor.
The police accident report was not available Wednesday night.
However, early indications were that Morris was driving when she turned in front of the truck traveling in the opposite direction, police said.
The truck slammed into the side of the SUV, sending it spinning to the side of the road near the intersection at Dill Street, not far from McDonald’s.
Morris and Jean are both from Lisbon. Information about the driver of the truck was not available.
Police closed down a section of Lisbon Street as rescue crews responded and an investigation into the cause got under way. Inbound traffic was diverted onto Alfred Plourde Parkway and directed around the scene.
