JAY – The Cub Scouts of Pack 599 sold popcorn from Sept. 1 to Oct. 16 to raise money to fund the pack activities for the coming year. The boys met their goal, set by Cub Master Rick Merrill, realizing a total of $8,900. They were rewarded for their work on Nov. 13 – all 39 of them got to throw a whipped cream pie in Merrill’s face.

Other activities included a sign-up on Sept. 11, allowing boys ages 6 to 10 the opportunity to join their ranks.

The Cub Scouts and members of Boy Scout Troop 199 conducted a bottle drive on Oct. 21 and raised $700 to go toward hurricane relief. Then on Dec. 3, the boys decorated a float that was in the Christmas parade.

The Scouts held their Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 18, when Santa paid the boys a visit and give them their Pinewood Derby cars, which they will build and race in March.
