Pageant set

WATERFORD – The Waterford Congregational Church on Plummer Hill Road invites the community to its annual candlelight pageant at 6:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec. 24. The nativity pageant will be accompanied by a large community choir and the singing of traditional carols by the audience.

Eve service

PARIS – A Christmas Eve service of carols and candles will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, at the Deering Memorial United Methodist Church. The choir will present a Reader’s Theater production of “Mary and Joseph Are Getting Married.” The Christmas service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25.

Christmas party

WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Historical Society held its annual Christmas party recently. The evening began with a potluck supper, and an exchange of gifts and Christmas stories followed. Curator Larry Billings reported that his book on culture had nearly made back its printing costs. Copies may be purchased at the Billings home or Books N’ Things of Bethel for $4.

Christmas videos

WEST PARIS – The “Little Castle” Library has announced the following videos for Christmas viewing: “The Polar Express,” “12 Days of Christmas” (made in Bethel), “Felicity, American Girl,” “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” “Madacasca,” “Charlotte’s Web” and “Sponge Bob Square Pants.” The library is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons.

Special services

WEST PARIS – There will be three Christmas Eve services in West Paris on Saturday, Dec. 24: 5 p.m., Mission Congregational Church; 6 p.m., Universalist-Unitarian Church; and 7 p.m., West Paris Baptist Church.

Seniors party

RUMFORD – Rumford Seniors held a Christmas party at the American Legion Hall with music, food and a visit from Santa Claus.

It was reported the fair at the center was profitable and quite well attended. A trip to New Hampshire for Christmas at Indian Head was attended by 34 people on a snowy day.

The club is preparing the following trips for 2006: Jan. 26, Black Watch, $40; March 17, Indian Head for St. Patrick’s Day; April 5, sugar trip to Mason, N.H.; May 10, Hollywood Slots in Bangor; June 28, Windjammer in Boothbay. July 12, clambake at York Harbor.
