JAY – Emily Stinchfield scored six of her game-high 16 points in a crucial fourth-quarter surge as Mt. Abram completed a come-from-behind 58-43 victory over Jay.
Kenni Norton added 14 points for the Roadrunners, who fell behind early before tying the game 35-35 at the end of the third quarter. Mt. Abram (2-2) then outscored the Tigers 23-8 in the final frame. Brittany York had six of her eight points in the final quarter.
Kaylie DeMillo had 15 points to pace Jay (2-2), including two buckets from beyond the arc, and Jessica LaBrecque added nine points.
Winthrop 62, Telstar 58
BETHEL – Emilie Knight knocked down a game-high 25 points and Winthrop rode some hot free-throw shooting to a 62-58 victory over Telstar.
Katie Pushard added 19 points, with 15 of those coming from the charity stripe as the Ramblers scored 26 points at the foul line.
Bailey Davis lead the Rebels (2-2) with 16 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Kelsey Dole chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds, Jillian Kimball added 11 points, and Josie Reiss had 10 points.
Poland 47, Wells 40
POLAND – Katheryn Hall scored nine points and hauled down nine rebounds as Poland edged Wells 47-40 for its first win of the season.
Paige Piper led the Knights (1-4) with 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Jen Dionne and Cortney Clark each contributed six points to the victory.
Kristen Ganslow, Emily Wallingford, Brooke Stevens, and Colleen Beisswanger each had seven points for the Warriors (0-3).
Mountain Valley 56, Carrabec 23
RUMFORD – Kristen Arsenault scored a game-high 21 points and had six steals to lead Mountain Valley to a 56-23 victory over Carrabec in an MVC girls’ basketball matchup.
Vanessa Cayer chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Tanya Martin added 10 points with four assists and four steals for Mountain Valley.
The Falcons defense limited Carrabec to four points in the first half.
Tiffany Gurney was the leading scorer for Carrabec (0-4) with six points.
Livermore Falls 63, Georges Valley 51
THOMASTON – Taryn Flagg dropped in 20 points as Livermore Falls built up a big lead in the first half that it never relinquished in a 63-51 victory over Georges Valley.
Livermore Falls jumped out to a 21-7 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 38-16 at the half.
Marjorie Debrosky joined Flagg in double figures with 10 points, and Lacey Hazelton had nine points for the undefeated Andies (4-0).
Ashley Geel had 11 points to lead Georges Valley (0-4), and Sam Ferra had 10 points.
