NORWAY – Thomas P. “Tom” Byron, 69, of Norway, died Monday, Dec. 19, at his home.

He was born in Dorchester, Mass., on May 8, 1936, the son of Thomas A. and Beatrice (O’Connor) Byron.

He married the former Mary Flynn on April 15, 1961, in Brookline, Mass. He had worked for many years as an operating engineer out of the Local 4 in the heavy equipment business.

He was proud of serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the 10th Mountain Division.

He was a member of the Stone-Smart American Legion Post 82 of Norway, a communicant of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church of Norway and member of the International Union of Operating Engineers since 1958. He liked hunting and playing golf. He was very proud of the 262-pound deer that he got in November 1973 and was entered into the Big Bucks Club, of which he became a member.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Norway; and four brothers-in-law, John Flynn and Kevin Flynn, both of California, and James Flynn and Thomas Flynn, both of Florida.
