Class lunch

RUMFORD – The Stephens High School classmates of 1954 will meet at Sam’s for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21. Members are asked to try to attend.

Seniors meeting

DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at the Dixfield Legion. The meeting will be followed by a potluck dinner at noon. Entertainment will be by Barry Wood. New members are welcome. For more information, contact Connie at 364-2428 or Marge at 364-3316.

Candlelight meet

DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Congregational Church will have a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, and Christmas Day service at 10 a.m. For more information, call 562-4582.

Weekend services

MEXICO – The Mexico Congregational United Church of Christ, also known as “the Green Church,” will have two Christmas Eve services on Saturday, Dec. 24.

At 6 p.m. in the sanctuary at 163 Main St., there will be a family Christmas Eve service, including the lighting of candles, a special Christmas story, three young people being baptized and the singing of Christmas carols, including “Silent Night” with guitar accompaniment.

At 11 p.m. the annual Carols and Candlelight Service will take place. The Senior Choir will sing special music, Bob Bohren will sing and Andy Bohren will accompany him on guitar. The service will include candlelighting, scriptures and congregational carols. Christmas bells will ring at midnight as the congregation encircles the sanctuary with candlelight and sings “Silent Night.” All are invited.

The church will have a service of worship at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, with extra carol singing, Pastor Ginger’s message will be “Luke 2:1-20 of Peace on Earth” and a musical communion. For more information, call 364-8603.

Christmas service

RUMFORD – The Rumford United Methodist Church will hold a Christmas Eve worship service at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, in the sanctuary on Linnell Street.

Pastor Kelley Harvell will present a program of lessons and carols.

The church choir will lead the singing. Special musical numbers will be presented by Pat Dyke and her daughter, Julie Merrill Dorset, formerly of this church, now living in Kansas City, Mo. The public is invited.
