AUBURN – Good Shepherd Food-Bank officials have received a second donated plow truck after reporting that their brand-new Meyer’s plow was stolen in November.

The most recent donation came from Leo Ruel of Alfred, who gave the food bank an F700 truck with a 10-foot plow.

Last month, the University of New England donated a truck with a V-plow attached. The dump-body truck was filled with donated products and nonperishable foods.

With two locations, Auburn and Brewer, the food bank will significantly cut its plowing costs, which were $2,200 for last January alone. Monetary donations designated to the plow fund will be used to get both trucks on the road, to make minor repairs and to register and insure the vehicles.

“The generosity of people humbles us,” said food bank spokeswoman JoAn Chartier.

Good Shepherd Food-Bank is one of Maine’s largest social service organizations, providing nearly 9 million pounds of food this year to more than 500 nonprofit agencies throughout Maine.
