Man charged in Conn. killing

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – Police have charged a 22-year-old man with murder in connection with a deadly pizza shop shooting that was followed by a deadly car crash.

Ricardo Mack of Hartford also faces assault and reckless endangerment charges. He was held on $1 million bond.

Hartford police said they were questioning another man believed to be the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that fled the scene and crashed into a car driven by 24-year-old Latywania Mundle.

She was killed instantly. Her father, Earl Mundle, spent Christmas planning her funeral.

Police would not identify the driver because he has not been charged.

The shooting killed Chaz Booth, 21, and injured two other people. It happened about 2:40 a.m. Saturday in Papa’s Pizza restaurant on Union Place, across from the bus station. Though the restaurant was packed, police said few witnesses have come forward with information.

Cops bust hotel party, arrest 32

ROCKLAND, Mass. (AP) – More than 30 people, most of them teenagers, were arrested during a rowdy Christmas night party at the Radisson Hotel, police said.

When police officers investigated a report of a teenager being beaten at the hotel, they found a “large quantity” of alcohol in a room, along with some marijuana and heroin, said Deputy Police Chief John Llewellyn.

Only two of the 32 people arrested were of legal drinking age, police said. Many of them spent Christmas night in jail waiting for their parents to pick them up.

“It’s kind of a sad commentary, I guess, on Christmas night (to) have this many kids out drinking, doing drugs and partying,” Llewellyn said.

The partygoers are to be arraigned Tuesday in Hingham District Court on charges including underage drinking and disorderly conduct.

Llewellyn said an air pellet gun was allegedly held to the head of the youth who was beaten. Police confiscated the gun.

Man arrested in armed robbery

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) – A 27-year-old man was arrested on charges that he robbed a gas station while holding the clerk at knifepoint.

Police say Brian Poulin, of Nashua, went into a Shell gas station on West Hollis Street around 10:40 p.m. last Thursday, held a knife to the clerk and took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Authorities say witnesses and surveillance cameras helped them identify Poulin and his car. He was arrested a short time later following a brief chase and struggle with police. He was being held without bail.
