GREENE – Clayton W. Ramsay Jr., 74, of Route 202, Greene, died Sunday, Dec. 25, with his loving family at his side at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Portland on April 16, 1931, he was the son of Clayton Ramsay Sr. and Erma (Latham). He graduated from Deering High School in 1951.
After high school, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After he was discharged from the Army, he went to Wentworth Institute, where he received his associates degree in A/C.
On June 16, 1957, he married the former Patricia Reynolds. Clayton worked for Harriman Assoc. as an architectural draftsman and then went on to REA Assoc. He later retired from Aubuchon Hardware in Lisbon Falls.
He was a Boy Scout leader for six years, and enjoyed working around his house doing home improvements.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Patricia Ramsay, of Greene; one daughter, Denise Carlisle and husband, James, of Bowdoin; three sons, Scott Ramsay and wife, Susan, of Lisbon Falls, Mark Ramsay and wife, Laurie, of Turner, and Jonathan Ramsay and his fiance, Norma Newbury, of Greene; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, V. Patricia Chick and husband, Donald, of Alabama, and Rita Lebel of Portland; three brothers, Raymond Bailey Jr. of Harpswell, Carlton Ramsay and wife, Janice, of Gorham, and Donald Ramsay and wife, Pauline, of California; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Ramsay; a granddaughter, Emily Anne Carlisle; twin brothers, Robert and Richard Ramsay, and another brother, Robert Bailey; and one sister, Anna Bailey.
