FARMINGTON – Marguerite C. Farrington, 82, of Fayette Road in Livermore Falls, died early Saturday morning, Dec. 24, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, where she was a patient.

She was born in Livermore on Jan. 12, 1923, the daughter of Charles A. and Louise Hegguneur Cressey. She was valedictorian of Livermore Falls High School, Class of 1941.

On Jan. 26, 1944, she married Harold Farrington in Livermore. He passed away on March 3, 1999.

Following graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper at various businesses in Livermore Falls, including Bailey Brothers, Wellman’s Chevrolet, Firestone Tire, Tire Barn and Foss Jewelry Store, from which she retired in 2000.

She was a member of the Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church of Livermore Falls, an auxiliary member of the VFW, Frank L. Mitchell, Post 3335 of Jay. She and her husband were charter members in the Franklin County Friends of Retarded Children, the group that organized and provided the first educational opportunities for special education children in the Farmington, Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls region. She remained on the board of directors for Sandy River Rehabilitation, now renamed Work First Inc., until 2000.

She also enjoyed quilting in her spare time, and she and her husband had been members of the square dancing group, Friendship Squares, formerly known as the Triple Town Swingers.

She is survived by a son, George and his wife, Gail, and their children, Nicky, Sara, Ryan and Bryn, of Nashua, N.H.; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Ouellette and her husband, Dean, and their children, Rebecca and Jeff, of East Jay; two brothers, Otho Cressey and his wife, Veronica, of San Diego, Calif., and William Cressey and his wife, Janine, of Livermore and Florida; a sister, Phyllis Doiron and her husband, Richard, of Jay and Florida.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1999; her son, Wayne Farrington, on Sept. 23; and a brother, Charles Cressey.
