LEWISTON – Richard C. Barnum, 64, of Waterford, died Saturday, Dec. 24, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Hartford, Conn., on Dec. 2, 1941, the son of Harold and Betty Chapman Barnum. He was a graduate of Newington High School in Connecticut.

Mr. Barnum proudly served our country in the United States Marines.

He married Lucille Labbe on April 11, 1967, who predeceased him on May 29, 1997.

He worked as a machinist for Pratt & Whitney and Maine Machine Products before becoming the owner and proprietor of Lou’s Family Restaurant and Variety Store in Waterford. He later sold the business in 1997.

He was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene in Norway.

He is survived by three daughters, Sherry Ashley of Jackman, Debbie Phinney of Naples, and Sandra and husband, Scott Smith, of Oxford; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend, John Grant, of Oxford.
