RUMFORD – John Edward “J.C.” Crawford Jr., 58, of Coburn Avenue, Dixfield, died unexpectedly in Rumford on Monday, Dec. 26.

He was born Nov. 17, 1947, in Rumford, the son of Lula Crawford Manzer. He was a 1966 graduate of Dixfield High School.

On Aug. 29, 1970, married Lucille Lemay, his one and only love.

For 24 years, he was employed at NewPage Corp. in Rumford and at the time of his death was a journeyman mechanic.

He will be remembered by all as a unique person, gifted with a sense of humor and a love of people. He was a humble, hometown boy, who loved life, especially his family and closest friends, camping, reading and hot rods.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lucille of Dixfield; his mother, Lula of Dixfield; his dear daughters, Trisha Boucher and her husband, Robert, of Biddeford, and Alison Crawford-Foreman and her husband, Michael, of Rumford; a special son, Will Shurtleff of Dixfield; one brother, Arthur “Rocky” Manzer Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Peru; one sister, Nancy Doughty and her husband, Bruce, of Moreno Valley, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Tyler Crawford, Amber Boucher and Delia Boucher.

He was predeceased by his beloved stepfather, Arthur Manzer Sr.
