AUBURN – Madolyn R. Collins, 78, of 851 Summer St., died Monday afternoon, Dec. 26, at her home after a long illness.
She was born in Auburn on Jan. 12, 1927, the daughter of Ernest and Myra (Cates) Redmun. She grew up in Danville, attended Auburn schools, was a 1946 graduate of Edward Little High School and also attended the Auburn School of Commerce.
Following her education, she worked at Bates Fabrics for a short time before starting a family and raising three children.
She was an avid golfer and a former member of Martindale Country Club and the Golf Hammack Country Club in Sebring, Fla. She was quite proud of achieving two holes in one while active in the sport.
She was a lifelong volunteer at Central Maine Medical Center and the Auburn School Health Department and was an original member of the Mother’s Group of Auburn Suburban Little League.
Survivors include two sons, John Collins of Eagle Mills, N.Y., and David Collins and his fiance, Maryjane King, of Auburn; one daughter, Diana Brooker and her husband, Scott, of Auburn; one brother, William Redmun and his wife, Marilyn, of Danville; three sisters, Evelyn Veazie of Auburn, Lois Hamlin of Florida and Muriel Mulkern of Portland; seven grandchildren, Amie and Mark of Eagle Mills, N.Y., Olivia, Tessa and Nolan of Fort Collins, Colo., and Sarah and Andy Brooker and his wife, Jennifer; two great-grandsons, Jason and Sam Brooker, all of Auburn.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, on Jan. 19.
