AUBURN – The mock trial team at Edward Little High School gathered recently at the Ground Round Restaurant to celebrate a successful season.

Under the coaching of Justin Leary, the team won its preliminaries and entered the state tournament. In a close meet, it lost to the eventual state champion, Hampden Academy.

After the banquet, awards and certificates were given to team members. First-year awards went to Amanda Burgess, Shawn Gallant, Kim Tremblay and John Bedette while Esther Schlotterbeck and Joe Griswold earned their second-year awards.

Christopher Keene, Tom Kester, Vanessa Ouellette and Markus Schlotterbeck received their four-year awards. In addition, trophies for best lawyers went to Carin Eisenstein and Markus Schlotterbeck.

The most promising neophyte award was presented to Kim Tremblay. Best witness trophies were awarded to Esther Schlotterbeck (defense) and Tom Kester (prosecution).

Carin Eisenstein and Markus Schlotterbeck were given trophies for being the most valuable members of the team as voted by their teammates. Mary Martin was honored for her work as the clerk-timer.

The evening concluded with tri-captains Carin Eisenstein, Tom Kester and Markus Schlotterbeck addressing the team and presenting appreciation gifts to their coaches.
