AUBURN – A total of seven clubs are entered in the Auburn Rec Women’s Slowdown Basketball League set to begin next week.
The entries are as follows: Hoop Camp, Independent Women, Lady Ballers, Old School, Rec-Ing Crew, SOCHS, Young Ones.
Following is the league schedule, with all games play at Hasty Community Center at Pettengill Park:
Week 1: Thursday, Jan. 5, 7:30 p.m., Hoop Camp vs SOCHS 8:45, Rec-Ing Crew vs Independent Women; Sunday, Jan 8, 9 p.m., Old School vs Lady Ballers.
Week 2: Thursday, Jan. 12, 7:30, Independent Women vs Young Ones; 8:45, Lady Ballers vs SOCHS; Sunday, Jan. 15, Rec-Ing Crew vs Old School.
Week 3: Thursday, Jan. 19, 7:30, Young Ones vs Rec-Ing Crew; 8:45, Hoop Camp vs Old School; Sunday, Jan. 22, 7:30, Independent Women vs Lady Ballers.

Junior league to begin
FARMINGTON – The Farmington Recreation Department is set to begin the 26th season of Junior Pro Basketball.
Girls and boys in Grades 2-6 are eligible to take part in this instructional basketball program. Players will be separated into 2 divisions, consisting of both girls and boys on the same team, to promote balanced competition and equal play opportunity.
The regular season starts Jan. 7, with Division 2 (Grades 4-6) games at 9:30, 10:40 and 11:50 a.m., and Division 1 (Grades 2-3) games at 1:00 and 2:10 p.m.
The program continues through Feb. 18 followed by playoffs.
A standard registration fee of $20 is charged to all players and a $5 non-resident fee is levied to those participants whose parents do not pay property taxes to the Town of Farmington.
A scholarship, named in memory of the 1990 Boys Basketball Travel Team Coach Alex Strozier, will be continued this year. Two dollars from every Junior Pro registration fee will be devoted to the scholarship. The sum, anticipated to be in the vicinity of $250, will be awarded to a deserving volunteer coach in this program.

LEWISTON – After taking a two-week break for the holidays, the Lewiston Rec Grade School Basketball League will resume its schedule next week at Memorial Armory, as follows:
Boys Division: Tuesday, Jan. 3, 3:30, Holy Cross vs Martel Dark Green; 4:15, McMahon Black vs Montello Blue; Wednesday, Jan. 4, 3:30, Farwell Blue vs Pettingill Blue.
Girls Division: Wednesday, Jan. 4, 3:30, Martel vs St. Joseph’s; Thursday, Jan. 5, 3:30, Farwell vs Montello; 4:15, Holy Cross vs McMahon.
