With the game tied at 2-2, Pierre Parenteau scored five minutes into the third period, pouncing on a puck Adam Hauser was unable to control to give Portland a 3-2 lead. Perry’s snap shot over the shoulder of Hauser was the lone tally of the second period, tying the game 2-2 for Portland after 40 minutes of play.

Tim Brent scored for Portland one minute into the game for a quick 1-0 Pirate lead. The Monarchs answered quickly as Brad Smyth’s hard work forced Kochan and the puck past the goal line tying the game 1-1, 1:46 later. Then Mark Ardelans slap shot from the face-off circle gave Manchester a 2-1 lead after the first period.
