This is in response to the letter from Rick Ness (Dec. 23). He’s right on target about decorated trees having pagan origins. Back in Old Testament days, decorated trees were used for reasons I’m not sure of, and God commanded his people not to decorate trees. This can be found in Jeremiah, Chapter 10. God made it clear not to decorate trees with gold and silver, or whatever else is available in modern times.
Such practice is, in God’s eyes, idolatry. Read God’s second commandment in Exodus, Chapter 20.
Now, I’ll probably hear all kinds of excuses from modern pagans. To them I would say in advance, don’t tell me your excuses, talk to God. He told us what not to do.
