EAST WILTON – Robert Olin “Bob” Johnson, 69, of East Wilton, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 24, while snowblowing his driveway.
He was born in Lewiston on April 2, 1936, a son of Lester and Arlene (Taylor) Johnson. He attended Auburn schools.
In 1954, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. There he met, Kim Won El and on Jan. 11, 1961, they were married. She died on March 16, after 47 years of marriage.
Returning to Auburn in the early 1960s, he worked at various security jobs, including the Job Corps, Pineland and the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department. Before retiring, he and his wife, Kim, managed the Odd Fellows Home in Auburn.
In retirement, they moved to Franklin County to enjoy an area they considered beautiful, peaceful and almost heaven.
He is survived by his faithful companion dog, Butch; a sister; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Leon Heckbert and his wife, Tina, of Wilton; and friends of the ME ARNG 133rd Engineers C-Company Maintenance, L. Heckbert, R. Girouard, P. Brochu, G. Gendreau, J. Smyth, R. Lessard, M. Lauze, B. LaBordais, L. Therrien, D. Gilpatric, T. Cox, R. Morin and W. Danforth, all of whom will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Richard L. Johnson.
