PORTLAND – Country singing sensation Carrie Underwood will perform live at the Cumberland County Civic Center at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14. All seats are $45.

Tickets are on sale now and were still available as of press time.

Opening for the winner of the fourth season of American Idol will be Maine’s popular Don Cambell Band.

Underwood will take to the stage as part of “The Winter Wonderland Gala with Jeff Gordon and Friends.” Proceeds from the concert will go to the Jeff Gordon Foundation created by the four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion who is dedicated to helping chronically ill children.

To kick off the fundraising weekend event, the Portland Pirates will present a pregame show featuring an inspirational story of NASCAR driver Jerry Nadeau at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13.

Underwood’s initial album release, “Some Hearts,” hit stores Nov. 15. Also that day, she presented an award and performed her hit single, “Jesus, Take The Wheel,” at the 39th Country Music Association’s awards show in New York City.

Born March 10, 1983, in Muskogee, Okla., Underwood won three Billboard music awards this year: Top-Selling Hot 100 Song of the Year (“Inside Your Heart,” which debuted in June at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart); Top-Selling Country Single of the Year (“Inside Your Heart”); and Country Single Sales Artist of the Year.
