NORWAY – Edroy B. Curtis, 93, of Lewiston Street, Mechanic Falls, died Saturday at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Topsham, March 17, 1912, the son of George and Julia Henry.

He married Helen Keene in 1935.

He had been a resident of this community for most of his life. He worked at many jobs in his youth and had a lengthy career as a side laster at Shapiro and Sons in Auburn. He took to the woods in later years and ran the Middle Dam on Richardson Lake for Central Maine Power Co., retiring in 1975.

His joy in life was hunting and fishing, and he loved teaching young boys these sports. He was a Boy Scout leader and labored extensively to send many youths to Conservation Camp.

He was a member of Tyrian Lodge 73 AF & AM, served many years on the Mechanic Falls Fire Department attaining the rank of assistant chief, and was a member of the Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years; a son, Gregory, and his wife Emma; four granddaughters, Linda A. Jahn and husband, Sonny, Cindy L. Morgan and husband, Norman, Kelly J. Callahan and her companion, Tim Reese, and Maureen E. Berube and her companion, Al Garmon; two grandsons, Edroy B. Curtis II and his wife, Susan, and Gregory D. Curtis Jr. and his wife, Jeanette; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Joyce Wing; three sisters; and a brother.
