LEWISTON – The La Rencontre gathering will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at the Franco-American Heritage Center. Anyone wanting to speak French for two hours is invited to attend the get-together at the center, 46 Cedar St.

Professor Emeritus Norman R. Beaupre, PhD, of Biddeford, will speak on “Being Franco-American: Identity and Creativity.” Beaupre will inspire people, especially those of his own ethnic group, on how to nurture creativity and use heritage as the basis for being creative.

The meal will feature chicken and the cost is $6.50 a person. If interested in attending, please call Claudette for reservations at 786-6936 or the center at 783-1585. Everyone is welcome.

The group has grown from a dozen people to approximately 250 Francos who are reawakening their language.
