WATERVILLE – Meg Coffin scored a career-high 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Bates College to a 62-52 victory over Colby College in women’s basketball action Wednesday.

Coffin went 11-for-17 from the floor and 4-for-7 at the free-throw line to surpass her previous best output of 23 points last February against Trinity. Matia Kostakis chipped in for the Bobcats (7-5) with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Katie McCabe led the way for Colby (4-6) with 13 points, while Lauren Duval added 11.

St. Joe’s 68, Thomas 52

STANDISH – Kaylin Regula led St. Joseph’s College with 13 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and three assists to a 68-52 victory over Thomas College in women’s basketball action Wednesday.

Brittany Rauscher had 11 points, three assists and three steals, while first year Sasha Bowen had nine points and two assists. St. Joe’s (4-6) held a 40-26 advantage at the half.

Thomas’s (4-5) Lea McNary led all scorers with 20 points, including a 12-rebound performance, while Kim Drosdik had 10 points for the Terriers.

Men’s basketball

Colby 76, Thomas 65

WATERVILLE – Drew Cohen poured in 19 points and hauled down 16 rebounds to pace Colby to a 76-65 victory over Thomas in a men’s basketball matchup Wednesday. Mark Gaudet chipped in for Colby with 18 points, while Nick Farrell added 11. Aecio Madeira led Thomas (1-7) with a game-high 21 points, while Chad Gray tallied 20 and James Godley added 13.

Colby held a 32-24 advantage at the halftime break then steadily pulled away for the win.
