AUBURN – Keegan Fennessey tallied 16 points, which included four 3-pointers, as Poland pulled away to post a 51-41 win over St. Dom’s in boys’ basketball Wednesday evening.

Chad Westley contributed 12 points, while Mimi Knowles added nine for the Knights (3-4). St. Dom’s held the 24-23 advantage at half, but Poland outscored St. Dom’s 16-7 in the fourth quarter to capture the win.

Joe Bonneau downed 13 points and Justin Richardson added 10 for the Saints (2-3).

Boothbay 59, Georges Valley 26

BOOTHBAY – Kris Noonan downed a game-high 20 points as Boothbay dominated over Georges Valley 59-26 in a boys’ MVC hoops matchup Wednesday.

Pat Norton added 11 points and eight rebounds, while Tim Stover contributed nine points and seven assists for the Seahawks (6-1) win. Boothbay held the advantage throughout the contest, outscoring Georges Valley right to the end where, in the fourth quarter, it tallied 21 points to the Buccaneers (3-4) four.

Georges Valley was led by Todd Cousins with eight points.

Winthrop 53, Lisbon 51

LISBON- Tim Gingras made one of two foul shots with five seconds left as Winthrop hung on for a hard-fought 53-51 victory over Lisbon on Wednesday night. Tyler Smithgall poured in a game-high 28 points for the undefeated Ramblers (7-0).

Levi Ervin scored 21 points and added 12 rebounds for the unlucky Greyhounds (3-4). Lisbon has lost three games by a total of six points.

Livermore Falls 44, Jay 41

LIVERMORE – Zack Keene downed 12 points and had seven assists as Livermore Falls edged past Jay 44-41 in boys’ basketball action Wednesday evening.

Mike Durrell contributed 13 points for the Andies (3-5) win, while Lyle Castonguay added 13 rebounds.

The Tiger (1-7) effort was led by Brad Loon who led all scorers with 16 points.

Rangeley 61, Hyde 51

RANGELEY – Justin Gallant poured in 16 points, giving Rangeley the advantage it needed to defeat Hyde 61-51 in boys’ EWC hoops Wednesday.

David Jensen and Zeke Hall chipped in with 15 and 14 points, respectively, to add to the Lakers’ (5-1) win.

Maurice Pye tallied a game-high 20 points, while Lewis Watkins added 15 for the Hyde.

G-NG 36, Fryeburg 28

FRYEBURG – Josh Lavasseur netted eight points Wednesday to pace Gray-New Gloucester to a 36-28 win over Fryeburg in boys’ hoops action Wednesday.

Kevin Cole chipped in for the Patriots (3-4) with seven points, while Chris Bennett added six.

Mt. Abram 63, Monmouth 56

SALEM – Aaron Adams poured in 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead Mt. Abram to a 63-56 victory over Monmouth in MVC basketball action. Jordan Norton chipped in for the Roadrunners (4-4) with 12 points, while Tyson Chase added 10.

Nate Armstrong led the Mustangs (0-7) with a 16-point performance, while Shawn Holbrook tallied 11. Mt. Abram held a 27-24 advantage at the half then steadily pulled away for the win.

Hockey

Boston 6, Hebron 2

HEBRON – Jay Anctil netted two goals and added an assist to lead Boston to a 6-2 victory over Hebron in prep school hockey action Wednesday. Mike Deluca, Mark Cerratoni, Billy Siers and Steve Angelone also tallied for the Bulldogs to complete the scoring. Aaron Runner made 13 saves in net for Boston to notch the win.

Jason Butler scored both goals for Hebron, with assists from Charlie Pens, Mike Turk and Ben Jessome. Keith MacDonald and Mike McDougal split netkeeping duties, combining for 32 saves.

York 4, Win-Dale 2

BIDDEFORD – Sean Hynes tallied back-to-back goals as York posted a 4-2 win over Win-Dale in hockey action Wednesday evening.

Dan Powers chipped in with an assist and a third-period, empty-net goal for the Wildcats (4-1), while Kyle Bonfield tallied a goal as well. Goalie Andrew Loane turned away 22 shots to record the win.

The Win-Dale (1-3) effort was paced with third-period goals by J.P. Carey and Mike Fleischmann.

Noble 7, Poland/G-NG 5

HEBRON – Mike Hower netted a pair of goals and recorded an assist as Noble topped Poland/Gray-New Gloucester in boys’ hockey action 7-5 Wednesday evening.

Joe Young contributed with two goals, while Chris Salinger, Todd Carpenter, and Paul Fitton each tallied a goal a piece. CJ Hiadick turned away 33 goals for the win.

The Poland/Gray-New Gloucester team was paced by Ryan Gilbert with two goals and an assist. Cory Cormier, Zack Arnold, and Dyland Michaud each tallied a goal as well.

Girls’ basketball

Rangeley 48, Hyde 30

BATH – Ashley Quimby and Nicole Crupi poured in 13 points apiece to pace Rangeley to a 48-30 victory over Hyde in a girls’ basketball matchup Wednesday.

Ashley Morton chipped in for the Lakers (5-1) with nine points and rebounds. Quimby and Ali Godaire led the defensive effort with six steals each.

Chelsey Malen led the way for Hyde (1-2) with an eight-point performance. Rangeley jumped out to a 16-3 advantage in the first quarter and was never seriously challenged.

St. Dom’s 30, Poland 26

POLAND – Malley O’Shea and Abby Gilbert netted eight points each Wednesday to lead St. Dom’s to a 30-26 victory over Poland in girl’s basketball action Wednesday. Julie Vandermeulenr chipped in for the Saints (3-2) with seven points in a well-balanced attack.

Mallory Huskins led the Knights (2-5) with six points, while Katherine Hall and Danielle Belanger added five each. Belanger led Poland’s defensive effort, holding the usually-stellar Gilbert to a paltry eight points. St. Dom’s trailed by four after the first half, then rallied for 20 points in the second frame to pull out the win.
